Great place for an overnight stop. Easy access to the park. Great for big rigs. Arrived at 4:30PM and had no trouble getting shown to our site, and assisted in positioning the rig. Good facilities. Wifi and cable were good. Would have been an even higher rating for us if Turner Classic Movies was on the cable. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Our truck broke down so we were referred here by the auto dealer. Todd is really great and enforces the speed limit of 5 mph which is great due to the many walkers around the park. He is so accomodating and about the friendliest guy ever. We were here for 5 days and the park was very busy yet quiet. We met many friendly people here, most staying just for the night. I'd recommend this facility to my family and friends without hesitation. As for Todd running it by himself...his assistant was out for a few days, and I must say Todd held down the fort great. He does escort you to your site with a golf cart and will help if you need it...wonderful thing to do for others these days. We will stop here again if we are passing through this way. Don't pass it up, even though the restrooms are not modern, they are large and kept clean! We camped here in a Truck Camper.

Best to arrive no later than 4pm as this is a one man operation. I give the owner credit; he is a nice guy but needs help between 4 and 6 PM. He registers a guest, locks the door, and escorts the guest to his site. Access to the site may be evident on the campground map, and there may be 3 others waiting to register, but this is the way it is done. If I can find my way to the WalMart in North Platte, I can find my camp site here. I agree with previous comments about the showers. The shower stall is large but there is no dressing area. You are charged KOA rates but no KOA quality here. No competition nearby. There is a nearby golf course so I would stop again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Camping here for 3 months. Great location with rv and tent sites. This park has 16 wonderful cabins, with plenty of room to walk, hike. swim in the lake. Lots of trees and shade . Bathrooms and showers are exceptionally clean. There is a game room, laundry, pool, rec room, basket ball and nature trail with a zip line. Store with nice supply of groceries a nd a small restaurant. food is great and plentiful. The closest town is Ogallala and Brule . A 5 mile drive on a gravel road but very doable. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Be prepared for a long drive (approximately 5 miles) on a dusty narrow winding road to get to this park. Do not try to drive there if it has been raining recently and call the owners for instructions. Do not follow your GPS. The pads were a mix of gravel/dirt but had full hookups. No cable but we had an excellent Wi-Fi signal. Satellite reception was good. The owners were very friendly and helpful. There is a small restaurant on site which is a good thing if you want to eat out as it's a long drive to go back to town. This is primarily a fishing/hunting park, but it does have a nice pool (which was not open yet) and lots of room to roam around. Laundry facilities on site cost $1.25 for the washer and $1.50 for the dryer. This is a PA park so the rate we paid reflects that. We would not make a special trip back here. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Clean & quiet park. Further away from the lake than we expected and the access road in from the east was terribly corrugated - use the west access. Very friendly hosts - would stay again! We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stopped here on our way home from Yellowstone. Very nice park. We had a lake view and the sites are spacious. The park is well maintained. There is a $4.00 park entrance fee on top of the nightly rate. We stayed 4 nights. There is full hookup available at Lake McConaughy which is just a few miles up the road and on a larger lake, but they were not as shady as the sites on Lake Ogalala nor did they have lake views. Lake McConaughy has a lot of sandy beaches that you can drive right down to the lake. We had no idea Nebraska had that much sand. It was like being on a beach in Florida. No dump at Lake Ogalala, but there is one at Lake McConaughy. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at this SRA. While we were expecting to only have electricity at Lake Ogallala, we were directed to the Little Thunder campsites which are over the dam. Sites 2 thru 6 are full hookups with 50amps! The sites are large, paved and level, the staff was friendly and helpful and the restrooms were well kept. We'll definitely be back! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We arrived mid afternoon on a Friday, and had no difficulty getting a prime site on the lake with a beautiful view. On Saturday, the park filled up pretty quick, so I would recommend reservations going forward from this time of year. Reservations are accepted for roughly half of the sites in the campground. The waterfront sites are plentiful, and many of them are reservable. The sites were very adequately spaced (our nearest neighbors were at least 20' away on one side and 40' or so on the other), and all were long, level back-ins suitable for any size rig. There are fire rings and picnic tables provided at most sites, and there are very large deciduous trees providing fair to good shade, which will probably be better once they are fully regain their leaves. Fishing was fair to good in the lake, with trout and walleye being the main catches. The campground was very quiet, though I would bet that it could get much louder in the summer when the jetskis are more plentiful. There is a dump station across Hwy 61 from the campground at Martin Bay on Lake McConaughy, and water available at several locations (including the entrance). The playground was dilapidated, and consisted only of a slide and a swingset, but my daughter still had fun playing for a little while. The openness of the campground, along with the lack of city lights, lent well to stargazing at night by the fire. Rates at the time of our travel were $10 for no hookups, $14 with electric. Overall it was a great trip, and we will definitely stay here again! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Sites 1 through 8 are full hookups with 50 amp. The rest of the sites are 30 or 50 amp boxes spread out around the campground. Half of the sites are on the reservation system the other half is first come. Had a problem finding a site where the power was working. Sites are pretty level, paved sites and interior road. Water spigots are spread out among the sites here and there. Verizon Aircard and cellphone had a signal and we had no problems getting our satellite in since the trees are small. There's a Safeway in Ogallala where you can load up otherwise you'll have to drive back into town. Electric sites are $17.00 a night and and they charge another $4.00 per vehicle per day so if you plan on staying 4 or more days buy their ANNUAL PASSES at the Visitor Center or at Martin's kiosk. (annual pass for first vehicle is $20.00 and the 2nd vehicle is $10.00) For a daily pass it's $4.00 per vehicle per day. Campground Host can sell you the Daily Pass. We would probably stay here again if passing through. CAMPGROUND MAP LINK: http://www.ngpc.state.ne.us/parks/places/campmaps/maps/lakemcconaughy_thunder.pdf We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was a lovely setting and very well maintained campground. Site were spacious: 50-60 feet on each side. We had a lake view site (#25) with large trees behind us. All sites are back-in, but there is plenty of room to maneuver into the site. In addition to the nightly rate, there is a $4.00/day park permit. We were here for 3 days and unfortunately it rained most of the time, but we still enjoyed our stay. There are many sandy beaches along the lake and you can drive right down to them. We didn't get the opportunity to fish, but were told that the fishing is good on this lake. During the busy season, I would definitely make reservations, especially if you'd like a site with full hook-ups. We will absolutely return to this campground! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed at Long Eagle Campground on the Lake twice. This time we booked full hookups and right on the lake so it was better than last year. It is a good place to walk (and boat, swim or fish) if you want to or like to. The campground Host, Lou and Sherry were terrific. We will return. The full hookups are limited so you do need to make your reservation early (maybe close to 1 year) if you enjoy full hookups. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

I have stayed here many time over the years. A young couple recently bought it and they have done a lot of work to improve the campground...new electric boxes, new water hydrants, and landscaping. Really clean restrooms! It is very easy to find and they could not have been more friendly. We look forward to coming back again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stopped here on our way back from MN. We really enjoyed it and are planning a trip back. Most of the sites have a lot of trees and there are sites with lake views. They only take reservations during Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekend (3 day min.), otherwise, it is always first come; first serve for campsites only. This seems to be the place if you want to fish. We saw a lot of people bringing in the fish. The place will tow your boat to the launching area if you don't have a vehicle to pull it there. Boat rentals are available. They also offer storage of your RV or Camper for $40/mo. They have a play area for the kids. We encountered a wind storm but it was no problem for our Hybrid/Trailer. They have a very nice store where you can buy your license and anything you forgot. A gas pump is available too. The sites are approx. less than 1/4 mile from beach area. It looks like the water used to come up to the lake view sites a long time ago. I would recommend trying Van's. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park is all sand on Lake McConaghay. No pavement or grass. Lots of big shade trees and good electric power but almost no water pressure. Some sewer connections are uphill from the campsite. There is a road to a nearby boat ramp and lots of fishers in this park. It's very dusty and all sand. The lake was lower than normal so the park is not right on the lake now. If the lake was up to normal then there would be lakeside campsites. No internet at all but satellite tv worked. The owners are older and get the job done but not real friendly. I would not drive out there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
