Spent two nights in site #54. Very nice, clean and quiet campground. Good distance between most sites. Some sites are 30 amp only. On-line reservations are available. Sites are asphalt with concrete parking pads. For the most part, they are level. Some are in shade (oak trees) and some are open. Each site has an open sided shelter with picnic table, fire ring and raised BBQ grill. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a COE campground so it accepts Golden Age Passports. There are two campgrounds on the lake operated by COE. The west side was closed for the season when we were there. There were large level sites with nice views of the lake. The bathrooms were 1950 cinder block and nasty looking. Still we would go back to this park since we don't use the bathrooms anyway. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This camp has seen better days. There are no trees for shade. Camp in the open. Very windy site. No frills, just simple camping. We stayed one night and moved the next day to the state park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here on a membership. We were very dissappointed in this park. The manager was nice and told us this was their off season. The road in was full of potholes. The sites were over grown with grass and the hookups were hidden in the grass. They only had a few working sites. The laundry had only 1 working washing machine. The womens' restroom was clean, the mens' was dirty. Could be nice with lots of work.Could use laptop in office but low signal won't reach to sites. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park that is a part of a full service marina. County road into park is a little rough but gravel interior roads are OK. Very large and wide gravel and grass sites, most with some shade. RV park has one section with some 50 amp service full hook up. The rest of the sites are all 30 amp. The other three sections are 30 amp water and electric only. Dump station on site. They also have air conditioned camping cabins for those who do not RV or tent camp. A great place to combine water sports and camping. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice place, seen lots of wildlife. Lake was way down,,, not their fault tho. Great place to ride the bikes. Good landing strip, I've flown in there many, many times. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Suggest you call ahead as some weekends are busy. Nightly rate does not reflect day use fee of $3 per day per person (BUY A TX STATE PARKS ANNUAL PASS). Nightly rate posted here is the non-advertised "winter rate" which runs from 1 Nov thru 28 Feb - you must stay a week or more to get the lower rate otherwise, the nightly rate is $16. Friendly staff, clean, spacious older park. Excellent over the air TV (HDTV), cell and wireless. Be advised, most of the back-in sites are at an angle of 90 degrees from the road. Not all sites are the same length or width so tell the park personnel your rig's length when you check in. Sites are gravel/paved with W/E on side or near rear; the park no longer has W/E/S sites (except for the hosts). Good space between most sites, shade trees, lake views for some, all have covered picnic tables. Surprisingly, there is an airstrip within the park for small planes. Unless you like to fish/boat, there is not much to do. There are 2 miles of "official" trails but I walked along the shoreline and the park road for quite a distance. This is a nice place to kick back and watch the sunrise/sunset, listen to the birds and take pictures. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely return in the future. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Parked away from the lake. Lots of oak trees for shade. The sites were level, parked on dirt. Camping is no frills, but pleasant place. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

There are several loops in this COE campground park with two being dedicated to equestrian, one to tenters, one containing covered shelters, and the others are for the usual RV. All campground sites have fire pits, grills, and covered picnic tables. There is one playground for the entire park. One bathhouse per loop, but no laundry facilities. Water pressure and voltage was good. The 30A only loops are heavily treed making satellite reception difficult. Access roads in the majority of the loops are narrow with tight turns that require caution for longer rigs. Definitely, not big rig friendly. The loop containing 50A service was the least desirable. Those pads were gravel and mostly unleveled. All sites in this campground are much less spacious than that of a typical Corps park. The dump station wasn’t level, which would prohibit a complete emptying of all tanks. The trees over the roads and pads are in desperate need of trimming. All but the smallest of rigs will get a good scraping either on the access roads or the sites themselves. This COE park would be at the bottom of my list for a return visit. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We would rate this campground higher if cable was available. All sites have concrete pads, and some are slightly unlevel and somewhat close together. Park also has numerous permanent RV ports, and lots for sale for new buyers. The park backs to Lake Whitney but does not have direct access to the lake. There is a clean laundry that is outside but covered. There is a nice county park close by with boat ramps. Overall the park is quiet, well kept, and directed toward mature campers rather than family camping. At the back of the park is a nice picnic area, fire rings, and a short walk to an overlook to Lake Whitney. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The management and staff are extremely knowledgeable of all the interesting places to visit in the area. The rates are reasonable. This is an RV Park surrounded by homes of primarily retired RV'rs who for the most part are extremely friendly and helpful to everyone entering the park. The park is in a gated area and gates are always accessible to the RV'rs parked here. The park is in a short walking distance to a beautiful overview area of Lake Whitney on dedicated wooded well kept graveled trails. There is a large club building with three separate meeting areas with complete kitchen facilities in each and there are activities held in this facility weekly. There is a "movie night" each Thursday night showing recently released movies and free popcorn is available. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The Lake Whitney Preserve is one of the larger preserves in the TTN system and for all it’s size is quite well maintained. The roads and sites are asphalt paved and while generally good there are a few areas that are deteriorating. Sites are generally spacious and well separated with cedar trees providing some privacy without feeling that you are in a green tunnel. Most sites have water, sewer and 30-amp electric service with a few providing 50-amp service for an additional $3 per day surcharge. Verizon cell phone and air card service is marginal and while slow, it does work. Free Wi-Fi is available at most D and B-loop campsites and at the Family Center. Many sites will provide access to the southern skies for rooftop satellite dishes but you will have to look for them. The Family Center has a nice pool, “Fillin’ Station” restaurant for weekend and occasional meals, a store and a relaxing lounge. There is a separate Adult Center with a very nice pool and spa as well as a lounge with TV and games. Surprisingly, however, there are no sites in view of the large Corps of Engineers Lake Whitney and access to the lake is only by a hiking trail through COE property. While checking in at the Gate be sure to ask for their 10-page writeup called “My Texas and the Thousand Trails Network” by Ranger Warren Wynne. It provides a brief history of Texas and the area as well as road trips of discovery. One trip stopped at the Coffee Station in Crawford, TX where Pres. Bush has occasionally eaten. A full-sized cardboard cutout of the President is in the corner if you want a picture with him. We enjoyed our stay at this park and this part of Texas and will certainly stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
